In 2001 the name was expanded to the Center for Nursing Classification and Clinical Effectiveness. The purpose of the Center is to facilitate the continued development and use of NIC and NOC. The Center conducts the review processes and procedures for updating the Classifications, disseminates materials related to the Classifications, provides office support to assist faculty investigators to obtain funding, and offers research and education opportunities for students and visiting fellows. The Center provides a structure for the continued upkeep of the Classifications and for communication with the many nurses and others in education and health care facilities who are putting the languages in their curricula and documentation systems.
